MJ Sharp: The witness of a 'kind soul'

Michael (MJ) Sharp, whose death in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was confirmed by the United Nations on March 28, was “a kind soul,” said his mother, Michelle, in an April 3 interview. John, his father, added that Michael always had a strong intellect but a soft heart.

Minority Ministries Council reconnects and shares

Michelle Burkholder licensed by Allegheny Conference

Allegheny Mennonite Conference licensed Michelle Burkholder for ministry at Hyattsville (Maryland) Mennonite Church on Sunday, March 26. Burkholder is now the fourth openly LGBTQ person to be licensed in Mennonite Church USA. She follows Theda Good in 2014 (who was then ordained in 2016), Mark Rupp in 2015 and Cate Michelle Desjardins in 2016.

For the sake of the children

We as a church are wondering how to keep our young families and children engaged. But I have a surprise for you: louder, sexier, more entertaining worship services aren’t keeping the young families in church either, because if singing and listening is all that is asked of us, it is easier to do that at home in our pajamas (one less place to go).
