I’m sorry to hear that sermon writing has put such pressure upon our pastors (“Holy ghostwriters lend a hand,” May 28). They don’t owe us a weekly performance. Some of my favorite (and most deeply felt) sermons have happened when my pastor simply spoke from her heart, without a neatly packaged, prewritten speech. The authenticity was breathtaking.
