Preparing for death

Having recently experienced the death of my wife of 59 years, Elaine, I resonate with Anna Ruth Hershberger’s article on death (Nov. 3). Thank you for placing this very personal experience before us. Elaine and I decided to plan a green or natural funeral, which included buying biodegradable caskets and discussing this decision with our family. When Elaine died on Aug. 14, we were sad but also glad there was a plan in place. We gathered at Bobolink Meadow in green fields of grasses, goldenrod and wild blue asters to celebrate her life and release her to the Lord she loved.
