Reviving postwar service

When the horrific invasion by Russia into Ukraine ends, could Anabaptists reinstate the Pax program [Mennonite Central Committee’s alternative service program for conscientious objectors, who helped rebuild in postwar Europe in the 1950s]? High school graduates could take a gap year before college to help clean up and rebuild Ukraine in gratitude for their privilege of living in a land of peace and security. What a tribute to the memory of our friend, Cal Redekop, who was instrumental in initiating the Pax program.Could this Anabaptist initiative plant a seed for the United States to do something even bigger — reinstate the Peace Corps — sending volunteers to help Ukrainian families return to their homes?
