Thank you for including a wide array of viewpoints. You reflect the beautiful diversity of God’s creation in your publication. I was saddened to read the letter (“A Blasphemous Heresy,” August) taking you to task for including “Queer, Wild Congregation Welcomed” (July). Thankfully, the tone of condemnation expressed by the writer doesn’t show up elsewhere in your publication. If there is a “Father God,” as the letter writer said, it is the father who welcomes the prodigal home, seeks the one sheep who is lost and reaches to all of us with love and delight in all our diversity.

“Queer, Wild Congregation Welcomed” affirms lesbian/gay sexuality. Such affirmation has a problem. The created order is set up to make people heterosexual. However, sometimes a physical process does not work right. Scientific studies suggest the possibility that homosexuality is caused by hormones in utero. Affirmation of lesbian/gay sexuality is misguided.
