Central Plains Conference marks 25th anniversary

Central Plains Mennonite Conference Central Plains Mennonite Conference

Central Plains Conference of Mennonite Church USA celebrated its 25th anniversary at its annual meeting June 26-29 in Rock Island, Ill.

The conference was created in 2000 as a merger of Iowa-Nebraska Conference of the Mennonite Church and Northern District Conference of the General Conference Mennonite Church, along with several Central District GC congregations in Iowa.

The conference welcomed two new member congregations: Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church of Harper, Kan., and Whitestone Mennonite Church of Hesston, Kan. They are Central Plains’ only members in Kansas. Both transferred from South Central Mennonite Conference, which withdrew from MC USA in 2023 and chose to affiliate with LMC, the former Lancaster Mennonite Conference, in 2024.
