This issue looked different in your mailbox, and I’m excited to tell you why. It’s a special one, not only because of its theme and outstanding writing but because we’ve packaged it with the first issue of A Dangerous Faith, a zine created for and by youth and young adults.
What is a zine? It’s often a smaller, more compact and less formal booklet. Often what sets a zine apart is its creative design.
This zine is a joint project of Anabaptist World, the Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery, Mennonite Action and the Anabaptist Climate Collaborative.
We started dreaming over a year ago about what a publication for a younger audience could look like and how we could bring it to fruition.
If this is your first time receiving AW, it’s probably because you are connected to one of our zine partners. As part of our collaboration, we wanted to distribute this first printed zine to all of our constituents, and this time it comes with AW.
So, dear reader, if you are new to AW, welcome! We’ve been hoping that you’d find your way to our pages. We bring inspiring stories and award-winning journalism for the Anabaptist community. You’ll find news (often exciting, sometimes difficult), creative expression, faith exploration and personal reflections from around the world.
Our publication is independent of any one denomination, which means we rely on reader support to keep the inkwells full and laptops plugged in.
New or tried and true, I’m honored to share AW and A Dangerous Faith with you.
A Dangerous Faith will be produced three times a year, and we will have options for digital distribution. To sign up for future zine content, updates and printable issues, go to the zine newsletter at anabaptistworld.org/dangerousfaith.
I hope A Dangerous Faith will be a place where youth and young adults can find inspiration, understanding and opportunities for faithful action by connecting them to opportunities with impactful organizations.
I’m grateful for the talented young people who have given of themselves to create this first issue. And I’m eager to see what they will bring in the future. What a gift to behold their creativity and convictions!
If you are also excited about these endeavors, please consider subscribing to AW — or, if you already are, gifting a subscription to friends and family this holiday season (anabaptistworld.org/gift2025). If you do, we will send them a sweet little card in the mail letting them know of your thoughtful gift.
