It is encouraging to see the acknowledgment of being Mennonite as described in the Jan. 20 editorial: “The most representative Mennonite is an African woman” for whom “a Mennonite is simply a member of a certain kind of church” rather than an ethnic group. I’ve had numerous conversations with people who consider themselves Mennonite who say I am a Mennonite because of my name and my roots, even though they know I am a member of the Evangelical Free denomination.
