As a result, Theda Good, a pastor at First Mennonite Church in Denver, will not be listed in the national ministerial database.
MCC also is calling on U.S. lawmakers to oppose military intervention in Iraq and instead to send humanitarian aid for the U.N.-estimated 1.9 million internally displaced people, or IDPs, in the country.
The delay in formal action comes after a six-month listening process collecting input from students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and church leaders through a survey completed by more than 7,000 people.
