Meserete Kristos Seminary in Bishoftu, Ethiopia, is finalizing plans for a multistory guest facility designed to create income for the seminary for decades to come.

The proposed “G+5 Mixed Use Building” will be located on campus next to the main road and feature rental spaces for businesses on the ground and first floors, with guest rooms and suites on the second to fifth floors.

The concept is the result of a two-year strategic process that studied guest facility concepts and consulted with architects, engineers, builders and other churches and colleges that have made similar investments.

The project is estimated to cost $2.75 million to $4.1 million.

Meserete Kristos Church President Desalegn Abebe and seminary principal Gishu Jebecha are visiting partners Oct. 1-Nov. 12 in the eastern United States to supplement a local fund drive and share about Meserete Kristos Church, one of the world’s largest Anabaptist bodies.
