Everence Federal Credit Union announces grant winners

Everence Federal Credit Union will donate $16,200 from its Rebate for Missions program to global agencies Friends United Meeting and Christian Peacemaker Teams ($8,100 to each organization). Everence members voted online to choose this year’s recipients.

Partnering with nonviolent movements around the world, CPT seeks to embody an inclusive, ecumenical and diverse community of God’s love. CPT places teams at the invitation of local peacemaking communities to help confront systems of violence and oppression.

Friends United Meeting commits itself to energize and equip Friends (also known as Quakers) through the power of the Holy Spirit to gather people into fellowships where Jesus Christ is known, loved and obeyed.

When people use a Visa credit card from Everence Federal Credit Union, they also help people in need. The credit union tithes to church and mission work 10 percent of the income generated from merchants through the use of its Visa cards. In addition to the amount awarded to the global organizations, an additional $16,200 is being donated to local community charities through the credit union’s branch offices.

Since the Rebate for Missions program began in 1995, more than $400,000 has been awarded to churches, missions and relief organizations locally and around the world. In 2015, The Mennonite, Inc. was one of the recipients of these grants.

Everence helps individuals, organizations and congregations integrate finances with faith through a national team of advisors and representatives. Everence is a ministry of Mennonite Church USA and other churches.
