I am so grateful to AW for the way you framed the conversation about abortion, including Joseph Penner’s “Pregnant amid the abortion fights” (Aug. 5). When a complex issue becomes politically electrified, as this one is, meaningful conversation becomes nearly impossible. This is why I’ve avoided the abortion conversation in my college classroom. But I am inspired by the way AW kept it human and holy, avoiding oversimplification and partisan dog whistles. Maybe I’ll find a way to follow your lead with my students this year.
