Mennonite Men to host eco-excursion in June

Mennonite Men Mennonite Men

Mennonite Men will host an eight-day eco-excursion June 11-19 in Oregon’s Willamette Valley to explore outdoor wild spaces, learn about ecosystems in God’s creation and nurture newly planted trees.

The excursion will include hiking in temperate rainforests, kayaking on the Salmon River Estuary, working on a Zena Forest tree-planting project, whale-watching along the Pacific coast and staying in an old-growth forest at Drift Creek Camp.

As part of Mennonite Men’s JoinTrees campaign to plant 1 million trees, the initiative will extend the Zena Forest, a model working forest managed by a Mennonite family in a region with extensive clear-cutting. The trip is coordinated by Mennonite Men U.S. director Steve Thomas, a certified arborist and graduate student in urban forestry at Oregon State University.

Registration is $890 at mcusa.formstack.com/forms/oregon_eco_excursion.
