Miriam Erb Mast

Miriam “Mim” Erb Mast, 73, died April 13, 2025, in Weatherford, Okla. She was born July 15, 1951, in Detroit Lakes, Minn., to Ezra and Vernice (Stutzman) Erb, the fourth of five children. Raised on a farm near Frazee, Minn., she loved the outdoors and working the land, from baling hay to milking cows.

A lifelong learner, she graduated from Frazee High School in 1969; Hesston College, with an associate of arts degree in 1971 and respiratory therapy in 1979; and Goshen College, with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 1973. Her Study-Service Term in Haiti and later graduate study at Eastern Mennonite Seminary were spiritual milestones.

She married Daryl Mast on May 26, 1979. They made their home on the family farm near Weatherford, delighting in their daughters Lisa and Robyn and raising wheat, cattle, ostriches, peanuts, peppers and other crops. She worked as a respiratory therapist at Thomas Memorial Hospital and later at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City for nearly 30 years.

Mim was a woman of deep faith, with a hunger for learning and asking questions. At Pleasant View Mennonite Church she taught for many years and led by example in living out her beliefs. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2007, she lived with grace, strength and compassion. She remained a spirited and thoughtful presence — intelligent, witty, free-spirited and kind.

She is survived by her husband, Daryl of Weatherford; daughters Lisa (fiancé Christopher Bryan Martin) of Tulsa, Okla., and Robyn (Daniel) King of Hutchinson, Kan.; three grandsons; and siblings Lorraine Erb, Kenneth (Carol) Erb and Loretta (Norton) Rubenstein. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Elaine Alderfer; and brother-in-law Harold Alderfer.

A celebration of life was held at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Hydro, Okla. Livestream can be viewed at narrativestructure.com/mimmast.
