In “The Unity Jesus Meant” (World Neighbors, Feb. 15), Richard Showalter says it well when he states: “If our primary concern for unity is really organizational, we should all join the Roman Catholic Church. It has the best track record of keeping the most people together for the longest time while confessing Jesus as Lord.”
The Anabaptists saw Jesus’ unity summarized in the Sermon on the Mount. One of his concluding statements there is: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 7:21). Are not unity and the Father’s will inseparable?
