Christians have come up with various ways to determine who truly is a part of Christ’s kingdom and who may be a pretender. Gene C. Rhodes would accept the testimony of a trusted pastor (Letters & Comments, June 18). In 1977, Larry Flynt, publisher of the pornographic magazine Hustler, was declared to have become a born-again Christian on the testimony of evangelist Ruth Carter Stapleton, the sister of then-President Jimmy Carter. There was rejoicing among Christians who expected Hustler to disappear, but Flynt indicated he saw no reason to change his lifestyle or magazine. The New Testament clearly teaches the one true testifier of whether we have been born again is our behavior. If we haven’t radically changed how we live, can our professed faith have more life than that described in James 3:14-26?
