BEIRUT, Lebanon — The humanitarian work of Mennonite Central Committee in Syria during this time of war grew out of the placement of a single worker with the Syriac Orthodox Church 25 years ago.
A vibrant Mennonite congregation in Tavannes, Switzerland, is addressing its need for a larger worship space by transforming a building no longer needed by the Swiss military.
Months before her 60th birthday, Karen Kreider Yoder sat with family around the table discussing how to celebrate. “I wanted to do something that wasn’t just for me,” she said. “I wanted to do something that was a peacemaking, community-building act.”
