The Faith and Life Commission of Virginia Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA affirmed Ervin Stutzman as FLC chair on Nov. 9.
The FLC promotes unity of faith and practice in Virginia Conference and has oversight for ministerial credentials, qualifications and appointments, giving leadership to spiritual, doctrinal and faith-and-life issues.
Stutzman served as MC USA executive director from 2010 to 2018 after roles as professor of church ministries and dean at Eastern Mennonite Seminary. He replaces Joe Longacher as FLC chair.
“I am excited about the new direction Ervin will bring to the FLC,” said Craig Maven, interim Conference Leadership Team convener and conference minister of administration and church relations. “The timing of his appointment and the passion he brings will reinvigorate FLC’s core purpose to resource pastors, churches and credentialed VMC leaders.”
