Stewardship after death

I appreciated “Green Burial a Natural Sendoff” (July) about respecting the Earth in what we do with our bodies after death. It was a warm and sensitive description of the experience by Elizabeth Soto Albrecht and others involved with her husband’s death and recognizing the environmental issues we should consider. I was disappointed, however, that there was no discussion about donating our bodies to medical education and research. That is what several members of my family have done and what my wife and I plan to do. Most states offer this option. Generally, there is no cost, saving as much as $10,000 in funeral expenses. This is good stewardship of our bodies and benefits the living.
