In reply to “Is This Really What Jesus Taught?” (March) on the immorality of the actions of ICE and Homeland Security: I could not have expressed the issues better! The time is now to seriously ask: What is a citizen of the United States of America? What is the history of the country? What is the reason it exists? One of the great ironies of mass deportation and indiscriminate arrests and detentions is that our birth rate is declining to almost zero growth. Without immigrants, we are doomed as a society. Japan and the European Union are already at zero population growth. Immigrants work the necessary jobs to care for the aging and elderly in these countries. Canada is in the same boat as all the Western nations and Japan.
