Thank you for “Our Hymns Shape Our Faith” (Blog, Sept. 10), which asks us to choose hymns wisely because they shape our faith more than sermons do. How do we choose our hymns? By the tune? The text? The feeling it gives us? I grew up in the Church Hymnal days, and what a gift it has been. These hymns led me to our great God, our Eternal Father, our Almighty King and our mighty Lord. Some songs we sing today are more about me than about my Redeemer.
