A sacred space of truth

Thank you for recognizing Koinonia Indigenous Mennonite Church and our work related to the Carlisle Boarding School Project (“Reburial of Native Children Is an Invitation to Remember and Repent,” January). The article by Camille Dager of Mennonite Church USA honored us and our peoples as we laid the children to rest for the final time. Her sensitivity of speaking to the peoples showed the level of respect for which we are grateful. This tragic history brought together our denominational perspectives of traditional spiritual teachings and the Anabaptist Mennonite faith into a shared sacred space of truth, respect and the beginning of healing. As Project Sacred continues this work, we walk together in the light that the Creator has given us. Neo-vana’xaetanohatseme: “My peace I give you” (John 14:27).
