In 2015, when a resolution called “Seeking Peace in Israel and Palestine” was proposed at the Mennonite Church USA convention, many of my Latino and Latina brothers and sisters went to the microphone to express their support for Israel. I was not surprised.
Mary K. Oyer, a music professor who influenced many Mennonites’ relationship with the fine arts, died Jan. 11 in Goshen, Ind. The Goshen College professor emerita of music and former professor of church music at what is now Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary was 100.
Mennonite Church USA’s Hope for the Future conference will draw from Isaiah 58 for its theme, “Breaking Chains, Mending Walls,” Feb. 9-11 in Dallas. The annual conference provides space for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) leaders to share in mutual support and worship.
