Dutch churches get help cataloging historical items

Museum Catharijneconvent

The Dutch Mennonite Conference is working with the Netherlands’ national museum for Christian art and culture to catalog the contents of 30 Mennonite congregations that have never taken an inventory of historical artifacts.

Over the next three years, heritage specialists from Museum Catharijne Convent in Utrecht will visit the churches to map out the church’s “collections” and identify pieces representing significant historical value. The data will be recorded digitally in a national database.

The conference is covering the cost and looks forward to learning what surprises will be uncovered.
