
She spent her childhood in Newport, where she graduated from Newport High School in 1960. Her love of learning led her to Bethel College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She later pursued a master’s degree in education from Wichita State University.
RuthAnn enjoyed a wide range of interests. She loved to sing and play the autoharp. She was a skilled woodworker, a passionate traveler and took great pride in her role as a campaign manager.
She will be remembered for her creativity, kindness and unique way of looking at life. Her legacy lives on in the many people she influenced through her teaching, her many travels, her music and her steadfast commitment to her friends and family.
She is survived by her brother, David Hiebert; and her sister, Eva (Hiebert) Klink. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Henry Hiebert Jr., Linda (Hiebert) Sekiguchi, Elsie (Hiebert) Dickerson and Erna (Hiebert) Haskins.
A service was held Aug. 8 at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton.
