We are on the other side of Christmas
after the birth,
past the hallelujahs,
beyond the silent night,
outside of Bethlehem.
The Advent wreath has been
stored until next year,
and soon the creche will
come down and be packed
safely away until it’s needed again
next year.
We are on the other side of Christmas
the child that brought a
promise of a connection
between humankind and
the Divine is now fully
with us in our world
and the story line lies in the
hands and hearts of the Human.
We are on the other side of Christmas
The Divine having planted the seed
left the future to us
with a call to feed the hungry,
welcome the stranger,
release the prisoner;
to care for the sick
to comfort the sorrowful,
to follow the example
of the Christ who grew up
and spoke truth to power,
touched the leper,
opened his arms to children
and welcomed both
Mary and Martha.
We are on the other side of Christmas
