In response to Kenneth Showalter’s query (Letters, February) [for quotes by Charlie Kirk that contradict Jesus’ teaching to “love thy neighbor”]: “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified’ “ (2024 podcast). “We made a big mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s” (December 2023). “I can’t stand the word ‘empathy,’ actually. I think empathy is a made-up New Age term that does a lot of damage” (Oct. 12, 2022). “Of course you should be able to use whips against those that are coming into your country. Why is that controversial?” (March 21, 2024).
