Conservative counter

An editorial appealed for greater participation in discussions engendered by writings in MWR (“What Readers Say,” Jan. 7). You may have a point about the predominance of conservative males, but I see this as a counter to the views presented by the publication. The conservative voice — a defense of traditional biblical standards — seems like a small, largely futile, resistance to MWR’s official stance. For example, I was horrified by the reporting on Mennonite participation in the 2017 women’s march in Washington — a vulgar display that should have caused at least mild condemnation. It may be that Mennonite Church USA and MWR have so alienated those on the conservative end of the spectrum that the exodus is irreversible.
