A dozen people in three Ontario drug trafficking rings have been arrested and face 49 drug-related charges after police seized more than 34 pounds of drugs tied to Chihuahua, Mexico.
Blackburn Radio reported May 22 that “many of those charged belong to Mexican Mennonite communities in Ontario.”
After a nine-month investigation, police seized about 26.5 pounds of cocaine worth $1.2 million, 7.7 pounds of methamphetamine worth $280,000, four vehicles, a stun gun and about $130,000 in cash. Some of the drugs were hidden in car parts, such as a hollowed-out battery.
The following people, ranging in age from 33 to 64, have been charged: Peter Knelsen, Anna Friesen, John Knelsen, Franz Klassen, Abraham Klassen, Maria Klassen, Anna Thiessen and John Thiessen of Norfolk County; Nelson Vasquez and David Soubanh of Kitchener; Son Nguyen of Toronto and Guillermo Harder of Arthur.
