Many articles and letters attempt to justify or denounce homosexuality using feelings and experiences as primary criteria. Some recognize the obvious benefits of the Genesis model and the consequences of departing from it. What I find to be absent is the foundational thinking that is required to establish the indisputable facts.

Certain universal laws and principles are non-negotiable. For example: Every form has a corresponding function. There are at least two ways to violate that law of nature: to assign an incompatible function with the form, or to engage a form that is inconsistent with the function.

If certain populations, with no access to knowledge of the will of our Creator, organized their way of life after the patterns they saw in nature and thereby will obtain mercy from God, how could anyone knowingly violate a natural law and expect God to exempt them from the consequences? Can one knowingly violate any natural law and be in God’s will?

Apostasy is the public renunciation of a religious faith or doctrine in exchange for an antithetical view. By definition, then, any church institution whose leaders engage in such a process crosses the line into apostasy. If we normalize homosexuality, do we not become an apostate church?
