Hard to talk about death

Thank you for the article on John Regehr’s decision about death (Oct. 16). In 2007 The Mennonite published an article about my 20-year-old son’s discussion with me on this subject before he passed away. Numerous people thanked me for this article. However, I have found it very difficult to get people in the church to talk about this subject. Even as followers of Jesus, we let the medical world be god. We fail to allow or encourage people to decide it is OK to die. We hang on to life at all costs. We say heaven is a beautiful place, but we fight hard to stay out.
