Jason Porterfield’s “An Epiphany to remember” (published at anabaptistworld .org, commenting on the anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot), is a reminder that good intentions can have an unrighteous impact. All intentions are suspect, yet the primary intention of those in power (the Herods) is to maintain that power at any cost. Wisdom is found in allowing all people to boldly speak their truth, regardless of political, economic, religious or racial affinity. When we listen to every perspective and ensure respectable work, fair housing, healthy food and dignity to the powerless, we will know that our impact is as godly as the intentions of our better angels.
