An elementary school student at Lancaster (Pa.) Mennonite School remained hospitalized two weeks after a bus crash May 17 in East Lampeter Township.

LNP reported 6-year-old Noam Weaver was ejected from the bus and trapped during the crash. He was taken to Lancaster General Hospital and later airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

A letter published in LNP from his parents, Mike and Sheri Weaver, expressed thankfulness to God and to those who assisted.

“Over the past week, we have witnessed the power and newness of God’s mercies every morning,” the letter said. Their family celebrated Noam’s seventh birthday May 26.

James P. Irvin III, 46, of Lancaster Township, was charged May 24 with multiple violations in what police called a hit-and-run accident that involved a bus carrying 14 LMS students, LNP reported.

Gary Hiller, LMS director of marketing and communications, told MWR all 14 students and the driver were taken to Lancaster General Hospital. All but two were treated and released the same day.

One student, whom LNP reported was a 16-year-old boy, was transferred to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., and later released.

LMS Superintendent Pam Tieszen said recovery from the accident was a repeated request for prayer at the school’s end-of-spring events.
