I think John Powell is a fine man, and my disagreement is in Christian friendliness. It’s ironic that his column is titled “A View from the Center.” He is no more a centrist than Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. In his Dec. 5 column, he cites violence at Donald Trump’s rallies (violence of the left against Trump); says Trump wants to arrest and deport undocumented immigrants (yes, if they are convicted of a crime); notes that a police officer killed a black man in Charlotte (yes, if the man flees and ignores the officer’s warning — by the way, does the person’s color make a difference?); and that in Michigan a board voted to exclude Syrian refugees (yes, there are unvetted criminals and terrorists who take advantage of our ignored immigration standards). Violence and divisiveness tend to come from the left, not the right.
