Mennonite Church USA’s Bring the Peace awards honor a pastor who has worked to support immigrant families and a therapist who helps young adults of color develop their leadership skills.

Tina Schlabach is receiving the Legacy Peacemaker award, and Abby Endashaw is receiving the Young Peacemaker award. MC USA’s Church Peace Tax Fund sponsors the awards with a $300 annual grant.

Schlabach is co-pastor of Shalom Mennonite Fellowship in Tucson, Ariz. She previously pastored at Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen, Ind., and has served as a hospital chaplain and spiritual director. Her peace and justice efforts focus on aiding migrant women who cross the U.S.-Mexico border. She was instrumental in founding Casa Cardo, a home for asylum-seeking women and children.

Endashaw is the coordinator for Mennonite Central Committee’s Summer Service Program, which helps young adults of color develop leadership skills. She also works as a therapist. She recently joined MC USA’s Women in Leadership steering committee and facilitated the Youth and Young Adult Climate Summit at the 2023 MC USA convention. — MC USA
