Ebrahim Mohammed, an evangelist with Meserete Kristos Church in Ethiopia, died May 15 after being attacked while carrying out his ministry in West Hararghe.
MKC President Desalegn Abebe Ejo said Mohammed was shot by Muslim extremists and later died from the injuries.
“Through his humble and Spirit-filled witness, many came to know Jesus as their personal savior,” Abebe said. “Ebrahim lived out the gospel with deep conviction, love and peace, often at great personal risk.
“He leaves behind a grieving wife and two young children, both under the age of 3. His passing is a heartbreaking loss not only for his family, but also for the broader Meserete Kristos Church community and the many new believers he discipled.”
MKC, the national Anabaptist church in Ethiopia, is working with local leaders to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of other workers in the area. Abebe requested prayers for Mohammed’s family, protection of MKC evangelists serving in high-risk areas, and for peace, healing and reconciliation in communities across Ethiopia.
