MWR receives four ACP awards

Mennonite World Review won four awards at the annual convention of Associated Church Press on April 25 in Chicago.

For the 12th year in a row, MWR received one of the top three awards for national or international newspapers. It received a third-place Honorable Mention.

Anglican Journal received the first-place Award of Excellence and Episcopal Journal the second-place Award of Merit. The Christian Chronicle also received an Honorable Mention.

MWR also won three writing/reporting awards.

Editor and publisher Paul Schrag received an Honorable Mention for “The Right to Marry,” an editorial supporting marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples under U.S. law. The category was editorial or opinion article in a newspaper, newsletter, magazine or journal.

Assistant editor and web editor Kelli Yoder received an Honorable Mention for “Abuse Victims’ Stories Told,” an article featuring the Our Stories Untold website, which highlights the stories of survivors of sexual abuse. The category was news story in a newspaper or newsletter.

Columnist Richard Showalter received an Honorable Mention for the “World Neighbors” column. The category was column in a newspaper, news service, newsletter, website or blog.
