Artificial and authentic

Columnist Jerrell Williams asks, “Should the Church Embrace AI?” (May). Not if artificial intelligence displaces lived human experience or if community discernment quietly defers to the confidence of a machine. Yet it need not be an all-or-nothing choice between AI or people. AI can elevate the voices, perspectives and needs of people who might otherwise remain unheard or pushed to the margins. In this way, the body of Christ becomes a community that cares more deeply for those who were once neglected. Together, with 5% AI informed by 95% lived experience, a discerning church can embrace all people with real love.
