L. Louise Miller Bowers

L. Louise Miller Bowers, 94, of Orrville, Ohio, died June 8, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster. She was born Feb. 24, 1932, in Orrville to Ward J. and Ruth (Becker) Bechtel and was a 1950 graduate of Orrville High School. On July 31, 1950, she married Christ “Dick” Miller, and they were married for 35 years until his death on March 30, 1986. On April 14, 2012, she married Lowell Bowers, who preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 2020.

Louise had cleaned several businesses and homes in Orrville and was always doing whatever work was needed at her church. She was a faithful member of Orrville Mennonite Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher, served on the Hostess Committee and the Church Council and was a member of the Women’s Sewing Circle. She loved getting together with her Orrville Class of 1950 classmates, and she enjoyed sewing, working puzzles and baking cookies.

Louise was a strong woman of faith, a true prayer warrior, who prayed daily for her family and others and did her devotions every day, faithfully reading her Bible. She had a kind and generous spirit that made her know no stranger. She gave her all in everything she set out to do and was full of wit and wisdom and had a great love for everyone.

Surviving are her four children and their spouses, Jeffrey and Nancy Miller of Canton, Larry Miller and Stephen Wilcox of Hyattsville, Md., Mick and Hallee Miller of Wooster and Barbara and John Shilling of Creston; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Oldaker of West Salem; and a brother, Jake and wife Grace Bechtel of West Salem. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Martha Ewing; a brother, Richard Bechtel; and a great-grandson, Logan Miller.
