Lax and lukewarm

How is it that Mennonite Church USA has become lax in its stand against homosexual activity? When Pink Menno activists showed up at the Phoenix convention in 2013, we considered them left-wing radicals. Then came the 2015 convention in Kansas City, and all restraint was gone. At first, delegates decided we didn’t dare drop the Confession of Faith’s affirmation of marriage as the union of one man and one woman for life. But then the statement of forbearance of gay marriages also got approval. This is like approving sin or no sin — we’ll approve both! This is absolutely wrong!

When we become lukewarm, God will spew us out. It seems the LGBTQ community wants the church to approve their lifestyle to ease the guilt of sin the Bible says it is. Our country, our families, our culture and our churches will not survive if we do not stand on God’s Word.

Will MC USA keep preaching unity for four years, and by then many of our people will just accept it, like the secular world? We are waiting to see how our conference responds to this, because a good number in our congregation are poised to drop their membership and attend a church where the whole gospel is faithfully preached.
