I enjoyed Astrid von Schlachta’s Feb. 12 column, “Have we forgotten how to argue?” I couldn’t agree more — until she used the divisive term “deniers of climate change” and thus participated in the very behavior she was arguing against. This term is often used by those who do not want to argue rationally for their beliefs. They claim scientific consensus for their position, but it does not exist. It would be wise not to use the “climate-change denier” name-calling strategy in your magazine.
