John Longhurst’s column is one I often find especially informative and worthwhile. The title, “We’re Due for Another Reformation,” in the Dec. 21 issue jumped out at me, and then his opening line, “Every 500 years . . .” gave me a thrill, because by then I knew he had read and was taking off on the ideas of Phyllis Tickle. I had shed a few tears when I learned of her death on Sept. 22, 2015. Her writing helps me live more peacefully through upheavals in our church and society. She outlines other tumultuous times in history and helps us hold on to hope for the present and the future.
