It is disingenuous to compare “traditionalists” and “inclusionists” as experiencing anything remotely similar when it comes to church participation (“Changing minds or following hearts?,” June 16). There’s a difference between choosing not to fellowship with people you disagree with and not allowing people to participate in full fellowship. It’s the difference between making a choice for yourself and a choice being made for you. It’s the difference between freedom and tyranny, liberty and injustice, legalist and disciple. The changes in the Mennonite Church today reflect a movement of the Holy Spirit, not simply worldly power struggles. To call it anything less than a spiritual movement is a denial of the Spirit who gifts us all.
