GOSHEN, Ind. — Residents of Indiana, Michigan and Kansas will have opportunities to enjoy Goshen College’s “A Festival of Carols,” an annual musical celebration of the holiday season, on public television stations.
The 2016 performances were filmed and produced by broadcasting students in the communication department and students working for the college’s video production company, FiveCore Media.
WNIT in South Bend is airing the program at 6 p.m. Dec. 21, 9:30 p.m. Dec. 24 and 7 p.m. Dec. 25 on channel 34.1, and 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Dec. 25 on channel 34.2.
WFWA in Fort Wayne (channel 39.4) will air the performance at 8 p.m. Dec. 23, 6 p.m. Dec. 24 and 2 p.m. Dec. 25 on channel 39.4.
WTIU in Bloomington will air the performance at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 25 on channel 30.
WGVU in Grand Rapids, Mich., aired the program at 9 p.m Dec. 16 on channel 35.3.
KPTS in Wichita, Kan., will air the program at noon Dec. 24 on channel 8.1 and 11 a.m. Dec. 25 on channel 8.2.
All broadcast times are local.
Patterned on a traditional English worship service, “A Festival of Carols” features Christmas carols, spirituals, Scripture readings and works by David Willcocks, Jacob Handl, Benjamin Britten, Robert Shaw and more.
Performers include the Goshen College Chamber Choir, Men’s Chorus, Women’s World Music Choir, Symphony Orchestra and Shout For Joy Children’s Choir.
The 2016 “A Festival of Carols” was directed by Debra Detwiler Brubaker (Voices of the Earth, formerly Women’s World Music Choir), Scott Hochstetler (Chamber Choir and Vox Profundi, formerly Men’s Chorus), Jose Rocha (Symphony Orchestra) and Sandy Hill (Shout for Joy Children’s Choir).
