While I appreciate most of Sarah Augustine’s comments in her Sept. 17 column, “Protectors say: ‘water is life,’ ” the statement about the Line 3 tar sands pipeline capacity — “a billion barrels of tar sands oil per day” — is off by a factor of 1,000. According to the “Stop the Line 3 Pipeline” website, stopline3.org, the capacity is nearly 1 million barrels a day: “Line 3 is a proposed pipeline expansion to bring nearly a million barrels of tar sands per day from Alberta, Canada, to Superior, Wisconsin.”
