Perry James Krehbiel, 77, of Moundridge, Kan., died May 19, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born to Merlin “Jim” and Ruby (Krehbiel) Krehbiel on Jan. 22, 1949, in McPherson and shared life with them and his younger brother, Rick, on the family farm near Galva.
He graduated from Moundridge High School in 1967 and Bethel College, North Newton, in 1971. He completed a master of arts in teaching (mathematics) degree at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, in 1973. He taught mathematics at Wilber-Clatonia High School in Nebraska. He worked in bookkeeping/finance positions at the grain elevator in Galva, Kropf Lumber in Hesston, Mennonite Property Aid Association (MAX) in Moundridge and the Mennonite Church USA offices in Newton.
On June 4, 1971, Perry married June Galle in Moundridge. They taught at Jesus Teacher Training College in Otukpo, Nigeria, under Mennonite Central Committee’s Teachers Abroad Program from 1975 to 1977.
He was a lifetime member of Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge, where he served as deacon, church treasurer, choir member and on the Peace/Witness Commission. He also served as treasurer for the binational organization of Mennonite Men.
Survivors include his wife; daughter Melanie Krehbiel (Jason Miller) and son Joel (Allyson) Krehbiel, all of Newton; three granddaughters; and brother Rick (Pat) Krehbiel of Moundridge. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, David Montelongo.
