Together we have moved mountains

In this issue of Anabaptist World you’ll find another spread of important stories and perspectives, as I hope you’ve become accustomed to by now. We work hard to make that a reality in each issue. Our team takes our responsibility of covering news of Anabaptist communities and sharing inspiring stories seriously, and we value the time and support you as subscribers and readers entrust with us.

New to this issue is a special section which names all of our friends who have supported AW through one or more financial gifts since our launch last September. As you can see by the pie chart on page 16, subscriptions and advertising are not enough to sustain our journalistic ministry.

Every gift is precious and crucial to maintaining the viability of our work.

So, I want to take this moment to say thank you to our supporting friends. Even if I’ve already said it, you should hear it again and again. Thank you for supporting all of us here at Anabaptist World! Together we have moved some historic mountains this year. If you find your name on this list, I hope you feel proud of what we have accomplished.

This past year has been challenging for us all, and I can’t overstate how proud I am of our team and what we have accomplished despite the uncertainty and learning curves that lie before us. Each of us has been required to tap into sources of courage and faith during this time, and I believe we’ve been able to translate that to the magazine pages you hold in your hands.

We merged two cherished legacies to create AW from Mennonite World Review and The Mennonite. We’ve launched with familiar and new columnists and hired new staff. We’ve built new digital channels to reach readers, created new opportunities for capacity growth for our team and launched a membership model — just to name a few of the mountains.

As I look back at all that has been done since our launch, I feel overwhelmed by the outstanding work of the AW team and the generosity of the community that has risen to support us.

If you don’t see your name listed in this issue, I encourage you to consider giving to Anabaptist World. We are only getting started, and we continue to need support from generous people like you.

We stand on over 100 years of publishing legacy and now look to the next 100. I hope you’ll help us get there.
