Virtual worshipers count, too

“Attendance decline hits smaller churches hard” (Jan. 20) misses an important factor: the definition of church attendance. The study counted only people attending in person. After restarting in-person services, most churches have continued a virtual option. Many people at high risk of COVID complications still attend worship services virtually. I challenge the study authors to repeat the study, including those attending online. One YouTube view may well be two or more people sitting together at the same screen. The results might show some growth of attendance post-pandemic.
