A child’s welcome

Recently at FMC [First Mennonite Church, Newton, Kan.] we welcomed a family from Ukraine. Everyone gave something, like a piece of furniture, food and clothes. Our family gave two end tables and a lamp. The reason we did this is to be welcoming strangers. This year there is a girl in my class from Sunset Elementary School. She is a stranger. Strangers are a part of everyday life, so expect to see strangers every day. You might also be a stranger to someone. When I grow up, I will welcome strangers. In the story of the good Samaritan, a stranger helps a stranger. I want to be like that. Do you? I wrote this at age 7. I am in second grade.
