I am inspired by the wise words of Valerie Showalter (“Can’t we just go home?,” March 26), preparing us for the reverse culture shock of post-pandemic reality. After repeated returns from living in Asia, I discovered I was not returning home but always going to a new culture with new challenges. Indeed, reality has changed over this past year. One way I pray I will move in new ways is by taking more seriously another pandemic: the threat our way of life has brought to the balance of the Earth’s life-giving dynamics. COVID has taught us we can make significant changes for the health of ourselves and others. I pray I now will make more radical changes to bring our living into accordance with the crying needs of our planet home.
